Initiatives
The West Virginia Blockchain Foundation (WVBF) advances blockchain and decentralized technologies through education, civic engagement, and student-led initiatives. Our work focuses on expanding access to blockchain literacy, building leadership, and creating pathways into emerging technology fields — starting locally and scaling responsibly.
🎓 Campus Education & Outreach (Current Work)
WVBF has delivered Blockchain Basics education and workshops at regional colleges, meeting students where they are and introducing practical, real-world use cases.
📍 West Virginia University (WVU)
Introductory workshops connecting blockchain technology with policy, innovation, and workforce opportunities.
📍 Bethany College
Student-focused sessions in partnership with campus organizations, exploring Bitcoin, blockchain fundamentals, and digital infrastructure.
📍 Washington & Jefferson College (W&J)
Blockchain education through the Ignite small business and innovation program, linking students to practical applications and the broader tech ecosystem.
These efforts demonstrate strong student interest and the value of accessible, campus-based education.
🔗 Black Blockchain Student Network (BBSN)
The Black Blockchain Student Network (BBSN) is a student-led initiative supported by WVBF that focuses on expanding access to blockchain education through Black student organizations.
BBSN supports students in:
🧠 Hosting Blockchain Basics workshops for college Black student groups (BSU, African Student Association, etc…)
📚 Sharing educational resources and peer-to-peer learning
🤝 Building cross-campus connections and leadership
🚀 Creating pathways into tech, policy, and digital infrastructure careers
Programming is deployed intentionally and in partnership with student-led organizations.
🔮 Looking Ahead: 2026 Focus
In 2026, WVBF will concentrate on strengthening campus partnerships locally while supporting a student-led network that allows knowledge and collaboration to grow organically across schools.
Our goals include:
📌 Strengthening regional college partnerships
📌 Piloting student-led Blockchain Basics workshops
📌 Refining a repeatable, community-driven education model
📌 Expanding responsibly to additional campuses across the country
🤝 Support & Collaboration
