MISSION:BUIDL equips students to move from curiosity to contribution through hands-on learning, founder access, technical challenges, mentorship, travel support, and industry exposure.
01 / WHY IT EXISTS
Talent is everywhere. Access is not.
MISSION:BUIDL creates the missing bridge between classroom interest and real industry participation.
Students often hear that blockchain, AI, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure are the future. Far fewer get to build a project, meet a founder, enter a hackathon, sit across from industry leaders, or attend the conferences where the ecosystem becomes real.
MISSION:BUIDL is WVBF's flagship student-builder initiative. It combines education, community, project experience, and targeted financial support so students can test ideas, grow their networks, and understand where their skills fit.
Hackathons
Team formation, competition support, sponsored prizes, preparation, and post-event reflection.
Founder roundtables
Small, focused rooms where student builders can share ideas, meet collaborators, and learn from peers.
Builder support
Grants, mentorship, conference access, travel scholarships, and introductions that remove practical barriers.
Industry exposure
Direct contact with founders, protocols, companies, technical leaders, investors, and ecosystem organizations.
Workforce development
Career pathways and applied experience connecting technical and nontechnical disciplines to emerging roles.
The builder pathway

Student-Founder Roundtable
Convened a private dinner for students building or serious about building during Penn Blockchain Conference week, including Drexel University student founders and participants from multiple universities.
TRAC3R hackathon team
Through BBSN, organized a three-student team, including students from the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of Minnesota, that built a pay-per-verification API for AI agents and automated systems during the 48-hour EasyA Hackathon at Consensus 2026.
Hackathon prize sponsorship
Supported the winning cash prize at the WVSU Cybersecurity Innovation Center Hackathon. The winning team explored environmental sensor trust, cybersecurity, and critical infrastructure.
CyberWVU at College Row
Selected the CyberWVU club president to represent West Virginia University at Rare Evo's College Row exhibit in Las Vegas, Nevada. WVBF supported his student travel and industry access.
